Your role as a student contact
As a student contact, you are the link between your fellow students and the course convenor in order to detect problems early in the semester, and to contribute to the long-term development of the course. Your task is to collect feedback and suggestions for improvement.
What is expected of you and how can you succeed?
- Be a proactive contact person: Your main task is to capture and convey the students' input to the course convenor. Don't wait for fellow students to contact you, take the initiative! Send out reminders via email or Canvas, and feel free to ask the lecturer to set aside a couple of minutes in the lecture to introduce you and provide information about contact options.
- Create a low-threshold option for feedback: Fellow students have different preferences for giving feedback. Make sure you are available via several channels.
- Participate in formal meetings: You must have at least one formal meeting with the course convenor to discuss the feedback from the students. It is the course convenor who shall take the initiative for it.
The course convenor's role involves
- having the main responsibility for the evaluation of the course
- taking the initiative to appoint a student contact
- ensuring that you meet at least once during the semester
- choosing several tools to collect feedback such as a questionnaire or a panel discussion
- writing the final evaluation report
What happens with the feedback?
Input can lead to immediate changes in the teaching. In addition, the feedback forms the basis for the evaluation report that the course convenor writes. This report is used to improve the course for future students.
