ID-checks during hotel stays

A new industry standard for ID-checks is on the way, which we expect most hotel chains to eventually follow. This is already a standard procedure in many European countries. Therefore, we recommend everyone to bring their ID-card when traveling, including domestic travels.

Scandic Hotel chain has informed that they have implemented ID-checks for everyone checking in at Norwegian Scandic hotels from 01.04.2025. Scandic has also sent information to Berg-Hansen to ensure that all parts of DF?'s booking procedure are updated.

Accepted ID-cards at Scandic:

  • Bank card with photo issued by a Norwegian bank (BankAxept)
  • National ID card issued by Norway
  • Identity card issued by the Norwegian Tax Administration
  • Foreign national ID card issued in countries within the Schengen area
  • Norwegian driver's license
  • Norwegian digital driver's license
  • Norwegian passport (EU passport)
  • Foreign EU passport
  • Foreign passport from countries outside the EU

A temporary asylum seeker certificate issued by UDI (Directorate of Immigration) is not considered a valid ID. For group bookings, please ensure that one person in the group can identify themselves on behalf of the whole group.
