USA - What now and what to come?

Stormy waters on the global arena - how should Norway navigate in these testing times?

Panel discussion: photos of participants.

The second presidential period of Donald Trump will soon have lasted half a year... and some stormy months it has certainly been. For a small country like Norway, with heavy dependence on stabile international relations, these have been challenging times for our diplomatic efforts. As a new horizon is taking shape, we need new thoughts on options and dilemmas, possibilities and limitations - and political ramifications. The International Summer School of the University of Oslo invites students, experts and the general public to an open panel conversation on the international challenges ahead.

The panel:

  • Kai Eide, former ambassador to NATO and State Secretary to the Office of the Prime Minister
  • K?re Aas, former ambassador to the USA and Political Director at the Ministery of Foreign Affairs
  • V?rin Alme, researcher at the Norwegian Defence Research Establishment on American alliances
  • Erik Cleven, professor at the Saint Anselm College, USA, in international relations and comparative politics

The distinguished panel will be moderated - and challenged - by representatives of the Norwegian Young Conservatives (Unge H?yre) and the Workers' Youth League (AUF).

The event is free and open for all, but for practical reasons we kindly request registration.
