EU/EEA/EFTA Citizens.
You must bring a valid European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) with you from your home country.* This entitles you to medical care on the same conditions as the citizens of the EU/EEA country you are visiting.
If you do not have a European Health Insurance Card, you must have private insurance.
* Exemption: Nordic citizens are entitled to medical care under the National Health Insurance Scheme (Folketrygden) without any insurance documentation.
Non- EU/EEA/EFTA Citizens.
International students from non-EU/EEA/EFTA countries staying in Norway for less than 3 months are responsible for making sure that they have valid health insurance. All international students who require a visa to travel to Norway to attend the ISS must contact the ISS directly as soon as they receive an offer of admission.
All admitted students who do not already have a pre-existing policy in place, must purchase an individual policy and thereafter submit the expense for reimbursement to the ISS.
Students who wish to purchase Norwegian incoming insurance can contact the ISS directly for more information and possible suggestions.
