The University of Oslo offers degree programmes at eight different faculties. We offer a wide range of courses taught in English, and around 60 Master’s degree programmes taught entirely in English, among them several Joint Degree Programmes.
A research university
The University of Oslo is Norway’s largest research institution. Research is the cornerstone of the University’s ongoing development as an educational institution of high international standing. One third of all PhD candidates in Norway are admitted to a PhD programme at the University of Oslo. Most candidates are employed as research fellows at the university or another research institution.

Our international recognition and rank, combined with the substantial number of courses and degrees taught in English, has made UiO an attractive destination for a growing number of international students. Currently 15 percent of the student population come from other countries, and 37 percent of the PhD candidates. At UiO you will meet students from all over the world.
