Expert knowledge
You can choose among a wide range of courses that enable you to construct a distinctive, individualized master's degree, building on the theoretical, methodological, critical and historical contexts that are established in the core obligatory courses. Through the work on your master’s thesis you will gain expert knowledge within one of four academic areas. You may choose courses from and write your thesis within any of these fields:
- American Studies,
- British Studies.
- English language literature,
- Literary Translation (English into Norwegian).
The Department of Literature, Area Studies and European Languages has excellent research and teaching staff within these fields.
Develop your skills
Today’s job market demands a variety of knowledge and skills. In this programme option you learn to think creatively, analytically, critically and independently about complex issues and problems.
You acquire excellent communication skills, both written and spoken, with a high degree of grammatical and idiomatic correctness in English.
Through course work as well as through your master’s thesis, you will improve your ability to plan, organize and prioritize work, and you learn how to obtain and process large amounts of information. You will learn collaboration skills and you will learn to give and receive constructive criticism in academic as well as professional settings.
