Why do you think they chose you for the job?
I have a master in Human Geography in which I wrote my master thesis on climate adaptation - that combined with relevant work experience as an advisor to professional groups in local authorities.
What are your main duties?
I am working on several projects in which my duties are data collection and data processing, writing reports and applications. Writing articles will also soon be an important part of my work.
What are you working on right now?
Right now I'm sitting in my office writing an assessment of a project about prevention of the toxic effects of climate change in West Norway, and also a vulnerability assessment for a project on local authority climate adaptation.
How do you apply your qualifications from the Department of Sociology and Human Geography in your work?
Experience from fieldwork conducted for my master thesis, experience I gained from the student exchange programme and also from theory and method courses at UiO are useful when I write, when I participate in developing new ideas for projects, when I am out in the field and meet people and when I collaborate with colleagues on various projects.
What is your top tip for students who want to be attractive in the job market?
Connecting your master thesis to an existing project and a relevant research group is probaly the smartest thing you can do to gain practical experience and make contacts that can help you with advancing your career options.
