Dear bachelor and master students at the Faculty of Medicine,

The end of this semester was not quite as we had hoped, but we are happy that we were able to complete most of the teaching and exams.

DIGITAL TEACHING IN JANUARY

Unfortunately, the infection is on the rise, and there is a danger that the infection pressure will still be high at the beginning of the semester in January. The Faculty management has therefore decided that teaching will be digital until 30 January 2022.

Specific information is provided on the individual course page.

Dear students and colleagues,

Following the reopening of Norwegian society, the Faculty of Medicine will return to ordinary, in-person teaching as soon as possible.

As of October 11 (week 41), teaching activities at the Faculty of Medicine will as a rule be delivered in-person at campus. Some digital teaching activities may continue beyond this date, and when this is the case it will be specified in the schedule and notifications given in My Studies. Lectures will be recorded and published as far as possible.

Exams will be conducted as planned. Note that from October 1, the use of self-notification for valid absence will cease.

Although the majority of the population is now fully vaccinated, we still have to live with the virus. The most important infection prevention measures that apply...

Dear students at the Faculty of Medicine,

After the Norwegian government announced the reopening of society and return to normal daily life from Saturday 25th of September the teaching at the Faculty of Medicine will be transformed from digital to physical format as far as practically possible. However, it can take up to two weeks to get all schedules updated and the classrooms ready.

Note that hybrid teaching will still be offered to our international master programmes.

Detailed information about the changes for the different teaching activities can be found on My Studies.

Yours sincerely,

Elin O. Rosvold and Eivind Engebretsen, Vice-Deans

The faculty uses “digital postbox” when we send decision letters to students. A decision letter issued when the Faculty makes a decision that individually affects you as a student. For example, answer to application leave of absence.

We use a cryptic solution for GDPR-reasons. In order to receive letters from the faculty digitally, you must register for a mailbox-service such as Digipost or Eboks. This requires that you can log in with “ID-porten”. Please see their website for information: ID-porten | eid.difi.no

Turn notifications on in your digital mailbox in order to be notified when a decision letter is issued to you. If not, you will not receive a notification on your letter and the faculty must notify you manually.

Students who do not have a digital mail box receives decision letters by physical mail to the address you have registered in Studentweb.

Continuation of digital lectures/seminars/clinics for large groups

In an email written by Dean Ivar P. Gladhaug dated 20 August, it was announced that in the middle of September the Faculty Management would reassess whether a move can be made over to physical teaching after 20 September regarding lectures/seminars/clinics for large groups.

The Faculty Management has now made this assessment in consultation with the faculty’s infection control committee and heads of studies.  The matter has also been raised with student representatives.

Due to increasing infection rates and as long as society is kept at level 3, we do not find it justifiable to move over to more physical teaching. The reason behind this decision is that a large outbreak of infection could have consequences regarding participation in teaching and thereby have a serious effect on the progress of study.  Despite the fact that there is the possib...

Dear students and colleagues,

We are happy to welcome you back to the university, and hope that you have experienced a good start of the term.

Unfortunately, our activities will still be influenced by pandemic measures, even though there has been some relief lately.

The government has decided to open for exceptions to the 1-meter distance requirement in teaching. After consulting the Faculty's infection control committee, the Faculty of Medicine has decided that lectures / seminars / clinical teaching where the whole class or a large part of the class is present, and where the 1-meter distance cannot be maintained, are to be held digitally until 20th of September.

This is justified by the fact that we cannot expect that a sufficiently large number of students will be fully vaccinated before mid-September. A major outbreak of infection would have serious consequences for compulsory education and thereby effect the study progressi...

Welcome to UiO as a student the coming week!

The Central Government earlier today, Friday 13th of August, lifted some of the restrictions that have been imposed on teaching due to the Corona pandemic.

In particular, the requirement of 1 meter distancing was abolished. UiO will implement the new regulations as soon as possible. However, for the coming week, starting  16th of August, we will stick to the plans that have already been communicated to all students. This means that digital introductions and information meeting will stay digital. As we gradually switch to physical or hybrid teaching methods, this will be communicated to you.

The Dean encourages all students and employees to answer the survey on innovation and entrepreneurship at the MED-Faculty.

Our faculty generates a large number of innovative ideas every year. Even so, there is a great unrealized potential for innovation and entrepreneurship among students, researchers and staff. To strengthen the entrepreneurial culture and provide students and researchers with tools and know-how to further develop their innovative ideas, the Faculty of Medicine collaborates with the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences to strengthen innovation and entrepreneurship at our faculties.

We hope you share our views on the importance of gathering this information and kindly ask you to fill out the questionnaire and share your views with us (...

Dear students,

We refer to the Oslo Municipality's press conference on 14th of April 2021, where the City Council decided to continue the strict measures until the 29th of April. This means that the University of Oslo also must continue with the measures we have today.

The reading rooms are open and can be booked. Which teaching is held physically is stated in the timetable for your studies. We still have a high infection pressure in Oslo. We therefore remind you that it is important to comply with the 2-meter rule and other infection control measures also when you meet in the common areas outside the reading rooms and teaching rooms at UiO and the hospitals.

Best regards,

Eivind Engebretsen and Elin Olaug Rosvold

We hope you have all had a nice and relaxing holiday and we look forward to meeting you for a new semester in January!

Infection protection

We still have to comply with strict infection control restrictions in the coming months. In order to be able to carry out physical education in a safe way, procedures have been created for various teaching activities. It is absolutely necessary that you familiarize with these regulations. While you may already be well acquainted with some of these regulation, others may be specific for the courses you are attending in the Spring.

Unfortunately we don't have the possibility of prolonging the trial access for product testing of ClinicalKey Student which gave access to some of the recommended literature electronically the last two months. Access to ClinicalKey Student will therefore end on 31st of May.

The Medical library can assist in searching for literature and getting access to alternative literature. They can be contacted on medisinsk.bibliotek@ub.uio.no

The list of recommended literature can be found on the course pages of the different subjects/modules. For module 6 on the medicine programme all the recommended literature is gathered on https://www.ub.uio.no/fag/medisin/anbefalt-litteratur-medisin-profesjon/modul-6.html...
