Start of studies for Master in Education fall semester 2025

Welcome all new students to the Department of Education (IPED)!

We are looking forward to welcoming you as a student to the Master's degree program in Education (MIE) at the University of Oslo (UiO). This page provides you with useful information about being a new master student.

Start-up for master students

The Department of Education invites all new master’s students, both in international and Norwegian master’s programs, to a mandatory welcome seminar on Tuesday, August 13, from 09:00 to 14:30.

Following the seminar, we invite you to join us for a social gathering from 14:30 to 19:00, with food and refreshments provided.

During the seminar, you will receive important information about your study program and what it is like to be a new master’s student at IPED. The seminar will be held in English and will include both academic and social activities.

If you are unable to attend the seminar, your absence must be approved by the study administration. In that case, please contact us via e-mail.

Program for welcome seminar

We also extend a warm welcome to all new MIE students to an information meeting on August 15 at 09.15-12.00 in Helga Engs building, Seminar room 231. Please find details on how to get to UiO. During this meeting, you will be introduced to the administrative staff, the academic coordinators for the specialization and your fellow students. If you are unable to attend, please send us an e-mail.
