Programme structure

The Master's program in Education is a two-year full time study consisting of 120 ECTS.

The Master’s programme in Education is an interactive full-time programme that consists of the specialisation Education and Social Change: Childhood and Youth Studies (ESCY). The programme requires consistent participation of all students in all educational activities, including group work and in-class activities. The programme specialisation is conducted through a set plan over four semesters where all courses are mandatory. The first semester begins with a introductory course that provides you with a foundational basis for your selected specialisation. This course will introduce you to Norwegian education in its Nordic context thereby providing an important frame of reference for the courses in the first, second and third semesters.

Research methods are introduced during the first semester and further developed in the second and third semesters. Through the three methods courses, you will gain the skills needed to develop a research proposal, conduct fieldwork, collect and analyse data, and complete a research-based master thesis.

  • 45 ECTS master's thesis
  • 30 ECTS specialisation
  • 25 ECTS methods
  • 20 ECTS introduction
