Administrative coordinator
In her job as a Higher Executive Officer at the Department of Education (UiO) Maryam has a variety of responsibilities and assignments. Maryam's favourite part of her job is the opportunity to directly contribute to the student experience.
- Supporting students in achieving their academic goals is so rewarding. Also, the dynamic nature of the role keeps things interesting - every day brings new challenges and opportunities for problem-solving.
Academic excellence
Maryam first learned about the master's programme in Education during her research on opportunities in higher education administration. She explains that it was the reputation of the University of Oslo and the comprehensive curriculum of the master's programme that compelled her to apply.
- I chose to apply because of the programme's reputation for academic excellence, its focus on practical application, and its alignment with my career goals.
Deep understanding and solid foundation
The Master's programme in Education and the specialisation in Higher Education is highly relevant to Maryam's current role at the university.
- It equipped me with a deep understanding of educational theories, policy frameworks, and practical strategies for effective administration in higher education. The knowledge and skills gained during my studies serve as a solid foundation for managing and improving the quality of my working skills.
Embrace Norway's unique culture and lifestyle
- My best tip for those considering a move to Norway would be to embrace the country's unique culture and lifestyle. Norway offers a high quality of life and stunning natural landscapes.
Maryam points out the importance of learning the Norwegian language. Even though most Norwegians speak English, it is always beneficial to learn the language if you are planning to live here for a while.
- Be open to experiencing new things, learn the language, and take advantage of opportunities for outdoor activities to fully immerse yourself in Norwegian life.
