Employment Possibilities
This Master level specialisation in Education and Social Change: Childhood and Youth studies aims at providing students with academic expertise and specialised knowledge on children and young people within the context of contemporary social change. Employment opportunities for graduates include, but are not limited to positions at the following bodies:
- national governmental organisations, such as ministries and quality assessment or internationalisation agencies
- Public and private higher education institutions
- Non-governmental organisations (NGOs)
- International development agencies
- International organisations (OECD, UNESCO, EU)
Our graduates will obtain an academic foundation that will make them attractive for a wide range of positions related to children and youth. Your career path can take place in both Norway and internationally, in various bilateral and multilateral organisations, ministries, research centres and the higher education sector, as, e.g.:
- Researchers
- Policy Analysts

- Practitioners (e.g., social work related to children, youth and families)
- Teaching staff of colleges and universities
Doctoral degree and PhD
Students who have successfully completed the programme with high academic results are qualified to apply to Ph.D. programmes.
Career center
The University of Oslo’s Career Centre provides general employment-related information and guidance to current students and offers career counselling and workshops to help with your CV, cover letter and job interviews. The Career Centre regularly runs career fairs, seminars, conferences and presentations.
