Semester abroad

You can study abroad during the second semester of this programme. Classical philology is a small subject in Norway. By choosing an exchange semester abroad, you will get the opportunity to study in a larger community.

Why should I go?

National traditions of classical philology differ greatly, and you will become familiar with new approaches to the subject. In the Anglo-American world, Classical philology comprises more subject areas, such as archaeology or ancient history.

If you choose to study in a non-English speaking country, you will acquire proficiency in a language other than English. Proficiency in German, French or Italian is useful for classicists who consider a research career. Skills in another modern language will also contribute to your analytical and comparative approach to Greek and Latin.

When can I go?

We recommend that you go abroad in your second semester.
