Online Course "Nordic Korean Studies Days", 8 Feb- 3 May 2021, 5cr
The "Nordic Korean Studies Days" will start soon as an online course.
The 12-week course (5cr) is co-organized by the Korean / East Asian Studies units of Nordic Universities and covers different disciplines such as history, cultural studies, anthropology, sociology and political science. In 2021, the Centre of East Asian Studies of the University of Turku is hosting the online course. (https://www.utu.fi/en/university/faculty-of-social-sciences/ceas/nordickoreanstudiesdays).
The 2021 course includes a great variety of topics such as The Making and Remaking Silla Origins, "Red feminism" and Social and political radicalism during the colonial Era, Socio-cultural monuments, moments and movements in South Korea (1950-1980), Contemporary Literature, The depiction of Single Mothers in South Korean Literature, Film and TV-dramas, inter-Korean relations, the Nordic countries relations with the Koreas, the self-employed in South Korea and more...
Course dates: 8 February - 3 May 2021
Time: Mondays, 8:30-10am (CET) and 9:30-11am (EET), respectively (please note the different time zones!).

Structure : students select three topics /modules
Students participating in the NKSD will get access to the UTU Moodle course page. The syllabus, readings and other course material will be made available on Moodle.
Students enrolled in the participating universities can receive an official study transcript from the University of Turku, provided that the NKSD is not included in a course offered at the students' home university and/or the NKSD course credits are not recognized by their home university (without the official UTU transcript).
