Asbj?rnsen Got Lost in the Woods and So Should You: A Physical & Textual Hike Through Nordmarka

This project is a literary essay exploring nature writing through the folk tales of Peter Christen Asbj?rnsen, and the way that his travels in Nordmarka were later represented in Norwegian hiking books. The text is a mixture of personal experiences of hiking in the forest and a reflection on the rich tradition of writing about nature in folk and fairy tales, that we might have listened to as a child, but did not consider in this specific context. The project intends to inspire a different way of looking at forested landscapes, well-known stories, and cultural figures.
