Competency hubs for IT in research

A number of competency hubs for IT in research have now been established at UiO. The competency hubs are part of UiO's focus on building hub-node structures that will ensure efficient utilisation of resources, knowledge development and competence transfer between different parts of UiO within a given theme. The hubs will typically collect and build knowledge and competence that is generic for the entire structure and ensure good access to eInfrastructural resources provided by USIT (and the national eInfrastructure).

In the hub-node model, the nodes are typically individual researchers and research groups that need eInfrastructural services. In addition to its nodes, it is natural for a hub to establish particularly strong ties to the shared services. In this way, efficient and good utilisation of the shared resources is achieved without subject-specific guidelines placing an excessive burden on these resources.

Overview of hub-node networks

Artificial Intelligence

UiO AI hub-node project: Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning & Deep Learning services for data-driven sciences

C2HO: Creative Computing Hub Oslo

C2HO will develop an interdisciplinary network for gathering and sharing relevant expertise and resources about creative computing.

Capretto hub

Processing and capturing big data in life sciences for HumSam. Website in Norwegian.

EyeHub

Network for eye-tracking and pupillometry.

Teksthub med digital humaniora

The Text Hub will gather and coordinate expertise and experiences from text and digital humanities at UiO, in order to build lasting research infrastructure. Website in Norwegian.?

QualiFAIR

The goal of the hub is to establish routines, procedures and specific instructions that will support reuse/multiple use, and if possible "open access", related to the possible uses of these costly data. Website in Norwegian.?

VideoHub

Network for support structure and collaboration within the use of video and audio data in research at UiO. Website in Norwegian.
