There are many landline phones at UiO that are no longer in use. When this is not reported, the phone and its number remain active. This is not ideal, either in terms of resource allocation or the operation of the telephone system.
Phone numbers and landline phones that are not in use are now being identified with the aim of deactivating as many of them as possible. An email is currently sent to those listed as the holders of phone numbers that are not in use. The email contains information about the initiative and instructions on how holders can proceed if they wish to retain their landline and phone number, even if it is rarely used.
If numbers have not been in use for the last three months due to leave of absence or other absences, and the holder still wishes to keep the landline upon their return, the number can be reinstated by contacting the IT department.
