Set up UiO mail in Apple Mail (private / non-administered Mac)

Guidance on how to set up UiO e-mail and calendar on a non-administered Mac. The accounts will be set up in the Apple Mail and Calendar programs.
 

 

!! The screenshots are taken from MacOS 13 Ventura, and deviate somewhat from MacOS 11 and 12, but the process is similar.
 
  1. Click on the ? menu (top left corner), and select System settings → Internet accounts
    (If you have not used Apple Mail before on this computer, you can skip point 1 and open the mail program by clicking the icon in the dock. You will then start point 2) 
  2. Click  Add Account... and select Exchange

  3. Enter your email address in the email address field. Click Log InImage may contain: rectangle, font, screenshot, software, multimedia.
  4. Confirm that the information is correct and click  Log in. 

  5. You are forwarded to 2-factor authentication. Type your UiO password. The next screen will show you a two digit number

  6. A notification on your phone should prompt you to open Microsoft Authenticator.Type in the number from the Mac, and verify the log in.

  7. Back on the Mac, a screen with a list of all service available is shown. Deselect any services you do not wish to use, and click Done
