Both the web browser version of Canvas, the Canvas Student app and the content in Canvas are required to be accessible and able to be used on a wide variety of devices such as mobile phones. These requirements are based on The Authority for Universal Design of ICT in Norway (uutilsynet.no).
Guides and assistive technologies
- Accessibility in Canvas: screen readers, keyboard navigation and recommendations (canvaslms.com)
- Accessibility tool "Ally" provides assistance to employees to improve the accessibility of their content in Canvas, and provides students with alternative formats of content in Canvas
- Microsoft Immersive Reader is integrated in Canvas: a useful tool for the visually impaired and for people with reading challenges such as dyslexia
- Dyslexia-friendly font (canvaslms.com): when this is enabled the Canvas interface displays OpenDyslexic font to make content more easily readable for users with dyslexia
- High contrast user interface (UI) (canvaslms.com): when this is enabled it improves the color contrast for text, buttons, etc. in Canvas
