Installation of software
For all mobile phones and tablets owned (and managed) by UiO, the Intelligent Hub app is installed on the devices. This application contains a software catalog (app store) with applications used at UiO.
It is important that you install these applications from the Intelligent Hub, rather than from Apple's App Store and Google Play.
No Apple or Google ID required
Note that installing applications published in the Intelligent Hub software catalog does not require an Apple ID (iPhone and iPad) or Google ID (Android).
This allows you to install all the applications you need to carry out work on your service phone without having to create a personal account with Apple or Google.
The Work and Personal profiles
For managed Android phones (enrolled in Workspace One), applications installed from Intelligent Hub will appear in what is called the Work profile, while applications installed from Google Play end up in the Personal profile.
This allows you to better distinguish between work and private life, where e.g. notifications from applications installed in the work profile can be turned off when you are not at work.
Applications such as Gmail, Calendar and Contacts are found in both the Work and Personal profiles, and they let you distinguish between work and private e-mail, calendar and address book.
Applications that cost money
If there are licensed apps in the AppStore or Google Play that you as a user need to use at work, UiO has the option to purchase and offer these through Intelligent Hub. Contact the service manager at USIT if this may apply to you.
