How to install Workspace One in your Android device

The tutorial shows you how to enroll your Android device to get easy access to your email, wifi and applications often used at UiO.

Before you get started

You don't have to be at UiO (campus) to set up your mobile device, but make sure you have a good internet connection. 

Note: The enrollment process can be somewhat different depending on which Android device you have. The entire process takes between five to ten minutes.

Contact Helpdesk for digital services if you have questions or run in to a problem during the enrollment process.

How to install Mobile Workspace on Android

Open your preferred browser on the mobile device and enter the following address: https://mobil.uio.no/enroll

Enter uio as Group ID (or Email Address) and click Next.

To enroll, you must go to Google Play Store and install the application Intelligent Hub

Stay in Google Play Store while the application installs and click on Open when the installation is completed.

In Intelligent Hub start with entering the server mobil.uio.no and click Next to start the enrollment process from within this application.

You are prompted with enter your Email address or server. Enter your UiO email address or the server mobil.uio.no. Click NEXT to continue.

Enter uio as Group ID, and click NEXT again.

You will now be asked to enter your UiO username and password and select NEXT. Wait for the authentication to complete.

Owners of Samsung devices will be prompted with Samsung Pass can store your password. We strongly discourage you from using this service to store any password from UiO.

Select the ownership of the device, whether the unit is UiO-owned (Corporate - Owned) or whether you own it (Employee - Owned). Press NEXT.

Carefully ready the privacy statement that comes with VMWare Worskspace ONE and click I UNDERSTAND to continue.

The wizard continues with asking you about Data Sharing with VMWare, we recommend you to choose NOT NOW.

The wizard will now prompt you with Set up a work profile that will be installed on your device, and be managed and monitored by UiO. Press Confirm to continue.

When the work profile is installed, you have reached the end of the wizard. Your account in Intelligent Hub will be shown and you can close the application, or for instance access App Catalog to install additional software often used at UiO.

Applications you install from App Catalogue (or the UiO configured Google Play Store) will be sandboxed and available only from the Work tab on Home Screen of your device.

Please note! If you uninstall Intelligent Hub, the service will stop working.
