eLabJournal seminar & workshop: Effective Lab Management

We were excited to invite staff from around the university to this comprehensive two-day seminar and workshop on the use of eLabJournal. This event was organized by the IT department in collaboration with eLabNext, the developer of eLabJournal.

The aim of the seminar/workshop is to introduce new users to eLabJournal and to give existing users the chance to discuss aspects of the system with representatives from eLabNext. eLabNext will also present upcoming features and functionality and take feedback from existing users here in Oslo.

Programme 

Day 1: Monday, 28 October

10:15 - 10:30: Welcome and practicalities

10:30 - 12:15

  • Session 1: Introduction for new users 
    • Introduction to the overall structure of the system, modules and basic features (Twan & Melissa, eLabNext)
    • Talk by Helene Kn?velsrud (Seksjon for Biokjemi, IMB) on the use of eLabJournal
    • How to get access to and start using eLabJournal@UiO (Jarle & Sahar, IT-dep., UiO)
    • Q&A with the eLabNext team and experienced, local users
    • Hands-on workshop

12:15 - 13:00:

  • Lunch break

13:00 - 15:00:

  • Session 2: Advanced features and roadmap items (Twan & Melissa)
    • eLabSync & eLabWebEdit
    • API possibility
    • Improved Inventory & Sample Tracking System
    • Roadmap items and upcoming features
    • Discussion of specific topics and challenges identified by group admins/advanced users
    • Open Q&A session with the eLabNext team

Day 2: Tuesday, 29 October

10:15 - 12:15:

  • Session 3: Repeat of Monday morning's session
    • Talk by Helene Kn?velsrud (Seksjon for Biokjemi, IMB) on the use of eLabJournal (approx. 11:15)
  • 12:15 - 13:00:
  • Lunch Break

13:00 - 15:00:

  • Session 4: Repeat of Monday afternoon's session 

Get temporary access to eLabJournal

  1. Log on to https://uio-acc.elabjournal.com/ with your UiO username/password (Feide).
  2. Once you have accessed the eLabJournal interface, navigate to the "Manage Groups" section. 
  3. You will be directed to the "My Groups" page, where you will find a "Join Group" button. Clicking on this button will take you to a page displaying all the groups on our test server.
  4. Navigate to either "IT – Seminar1" or “IT – Seminar2” and click on the "Request an Invitation" button. Please remember to click on "OK" in the next window in order to finalize your joining request.
