UiO:Energy and Environments is one of the university's three interdisciplinary strategic initiatives. The aim of the initiative is to contribute to a large-scale energy transition while reducing climate and environmental issues. To foster interdisciplinary collaborations within UiO and in collaboration with other research institutions and with non-academic partners is a priority, and participation in the FME scheme an important measure.
We welcome all interested researchers to an information meeting where we will present the call and try answer any question you may have. After the information meeting, it’s possible to discuss and mingle. Also, please note that the Research Council of Norway will host a webinar about the call on February 8 2023.
The Centres for Environment-friendly Energy Research (FME) carry out long-term research targeted towards renewable energy, energy efficiency, CCS and social science aspects of energy research. This call applies to centers that mainly focus on technology aspects, but unless there are special reasons to the contrary, all centers must integrate relevant non-technological research in their portfolio. This opens up possibilities for several disciplines, individually and/or in interaction with each other. It may concern social, economic, environmental and natural science, legal, social-psychological and political research topics that are important for the energy transition. The centres selected for funding must demonstrate the potential for innovation and value creation, and the funding is for 5+3 years. RCN aims to start up six to ten new centres for environment-friendly energy research in 2025. The objectives of this call are linked to the Portfolio plan for Energy, Transport and Low Emissions (forskningsradet.no), the Norwegian energy and climate policy and the Energi21 strategy.
A mandatory project outline must be submitted by midnight 10 May
