Scientific writing course for PhD-students

In collaboration with the Academic Writing Centre, UiO:Energy is offering a workshop in scientific writing for PhD students working within the field of sustainable energy and the energy transition.

The workshop is open for PhD students across all faculties and disciplines working within the field of sustainable energy and the energy transition. UiO:Energy will cover food, lodging and course expenses for all participants. The course will be held at Quality Hotel Leangkollen in Asker, just outside Oslo.

In addition to short lectures on writing and publication, the course is structured around various writing exercises with generous time for individual work. Participants who submit their drafts in advance will be given the opportunity to receive individual consultations focused on their own needs or questions.

The aim of the course is that the participants shall make significant advances in their own writing process, enhance their vocabulary for talking about writing and learn some simple techniques for structuring drafts and revising for publication.

The course is held by Ingerid Straume and Cathinka Dahl Hambro from the Academic Writing Centre at The University of Oslo Library.  UiO:Energy covers tuition fee, lodging and food at Leangkollen Hotell for all participants.

The workshop has a limit of 15 participants. If more than 15 sign up, UiO:Energy will prioritize candidates that are late in their academic progression in their PhD work. We also aim to put together an interdisciplinary group of participants, and in the first session you'll briefly present yourself and your research to the rest of the group.
