The new call has a different setup compared to previous calls. What's new is that some of the convergence environments are reserved for researchers who will have the Life Sciences Building as their workplace and must be linked to one of the building's prioritized thematic areas.

- This approach ensures a high level of interdisciplinary activity from day one in the Life Sciences Building.

We want researchers from as many disciplines as possible, including the humanities and social sciences, to be able to apply for convergence environments. Therefore, we have created a two-part call where researchers who are not based in the building can also apply, says Carl Henrik G?rbitz, Director of UiO:Life Science.

This will be the fourth round of funding for convergence environments for UiO:Life Science. Seven to eight research projects will receive founding.

The convergence environments will receive funding for PhD- and postdoctoral positions from UiO:Life Science in addition to operational funds.

Timeline of the call - workshop next

The application process will take place in 2024-2025. In January and February 2025 there will be three workshops organized for potential applicants. At least one person from each project must attend one workshop in order to apply. The expected start of the fourth generation of convergence environments will be in August 2026.
