The UiO Growth House – UiO's innovation unit for life sciences, health, and technology

NOK 1,7 million to innovative UiO researchers

Researchers who have been granted funding

In February, the UiO Growth House announced a call for seed funding to support researchers who want to develop their own innovative ideas with the aim to put the research to use. We received 30 applications. Of these 7 are granted up to NOK 200 000 and 8 up to NOK 50 000. Congratulations!

All the applicants will now be offered follow-up from the UiO Growth House.  

New in the UiO Growth House

Joachim Paasche is employed as senior innovation adviser at the UiO Growth House. He has a PhD in pharmacology from the Faculty of Medicine at UiO and extensive experience as a serial entrepreneur and adviser in the commercialisation of research. He has a background in both technology transfer and start-up companies in life sciences and technology. Joachim will work specifically with the Institute of Clinical Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine.

Joseph Makokha is employed in a 20 percent position for one year. He is a postdoctoral research fellow in the Entrepreneurship group at the Department of Informatics at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences. He has extensive experience in innovation and entrepreneurship and is an expert of Design Thinking, which is a method for developing products based on users' needs.

The innovation award 2025

Banner innovation award

Take part in Inven2's innovation competition the Innovation Award 2025 (formerly known as the Idea Award). The competition is open to employees at the University of Oslo and the South-Eastern Norway Regional Health Authority. The winner receives NOK 300 000. Deadline 1 May.

Remember that researchers from UiO with an idea, can get guidance and support from innovation advisers in the UiO Growth House.
