Inspirational talk
Astrid Kristoffersen, PhD, Research & Development Director DNV. She is responsible for research and development in DNV within energy, maritime, health, food and value chains, ocean space and digital assurance.

Kristoffersen has a Master's in mathematics and PhD in physics from the University of Oslo.
She started in the oil and gas sector after her PhD and worked with numerical models of multiphase flow and separation, then engineering management in Vetco/GE Oil. She has also worked 10 years in Kongsberg Gruppen in sales, business development and profit and loss management within oil and gas and maritime.
In her talk she will talk about her personal experience with the transition from academia to industry and the R&D in DNV in general and touch into within health in particular and what competence DNV is looking for. She will also show examples on how DNV collaborates with academia.

Vegard Vinje, PhD, consultant Expert Analytics

Vinje has a Master’s in mechanics and PhD in mathematics and cerebrospinal fluid dynamics from the University of Oslo.
After his PhD he was employed as postdoc at Simula Research Laboratory and later as research director for scientific computing. From April 2023 Vinje is starting as consultant at Expert Analytics.
In his scientific work Vinje has focused on waste clearance mechanisms from the brain and mathematical models of basic physical processes like fluid flow, diffusion and convection of molecules, and have used complex geometries (e.g. the brain) for these models.
In his role model talk, Vinje will talk about his personal journey from the studies at UiO, the research at Simula and now more into applied research at Expert Analytics.
Expert Analytics is an on-demand expertise consultancy in scientific and industrial data analytics and systems development ranging from cancer research to hydropower.

About the innovation hangouts
This is an informal meeting place where students and researchers from the University of Oslo (UiO) can interact with actors from the public sector, hospitals, companies, mentors, business clusters and incubators within UiO's innovation ecosystem. We will provide inspirational talks, talks from role models, matchmaking, food and beverages, and mingling.
The overall goal of the UiO Growth House is to strengthen the innovation culture at UiO to put more knowledge from research to use. With this meeting place, we want to inspire researchers and students, give them self-confidence and knowledge about the innovation process, help them build networks, and facilitate collaboration between academia and industry.
The UiO Growth House established the innovation hangouts in collaboration with clusters in 2022. The events are arranged quarterly in the afternoon/evening.
