Oslo Academy of Global Governance

The Oslo Academy of Global Governance was the University of Oslo's initiative for knowledge development about global governance in a world that is changing rapidly. The initiative was operating in the period 2015 to 2021.

Research

The research at the Oslo Academy of Global Governance followed three main tracks:

  • Health – through The independent panel on global governance for health.
  • Projects on sustainable development linked to the sustainability goals.
  • Reassessment of the state's role in global governance.

Objectives

  • Promote and enable innovative and empirical insight into global initiatives in key areas such as: climate change, energy, poverty reduction, food production and global health.
  • Bringing in new voices in the debate on global governance from e.g. Asia, Africa, Latin America, the Middle East and Eastern Europe.
  • Encourage synergy and the crossing of ideas between researchers from the field.
  • Stimulate interest in global governance issues among students and PhD scholars.
  • Link the university more closely to policy-making by producing high-quality knowledge for decision-makers ("policy briefs") and by establishing an arena where decision-makers can come into contact with researchers, civil society organizations and international actors.
