Congratulations to Stine and Gro for submitting their PhD theses, "What climate change is to finance. An investigation into value and the notion of climate risk" and "Looking into the digital state.  An ethnography of audit" respectively.

Congratulations as well to Tone Huse on a new position - she will join OsloMet and the Norwegian Institute for Urban and Regional Research (NIBR) as Head of Research, leading the division Housing, Place and Regional Studies, from 1 January. Until then, she will continue as PI for UrbTrans.

The paper is a result of the OSIRIS project.

From May 6 to 9, Diana will participate in the Regional Studies Association annual conference at the University of Porto. She will be presenting two papers: one discussing how to define and deliver inclusive innovation in Innovation Districts, and the other exploring local policy responses to climate change adaptation, along with the pressures to scale up and mobilise these strategies.

8 May Tone D will co chair a panel discussion on the political situation in the USA and the consequences for research ethics in Norway and Europe: Panelsamtale: USA, akademisk frihet og forskningsetiske utfordringer - OsloMet

Diana has released an edited book titled “Territorial Development in Latin America: Cultural, Economic and Environmental Dimensions.” This work examines how traditional, economic-centred development strategies often fall short in addressing critical issues such as social inequality and climate change. This is a second edition and an English translation of a book published in Spanish with the same title in 2022.

The book is divided into two parts. The first part provides a historical background along with theoretical and methodological reflections on development, growth, and decolonial approaches. The second part features a series of case studies that explore how territorial development can reshape our approach to tackling societal challenges.

On May 21 at 16:00 BST / 17:00 CEST, there will be a webinar to launch the book and engage in a discussion with the authors of the various papers. Please join us:

Vacation applications

We have all received an email from about the deadline 1 May for applying for the main holiday period, i.e. the summer vacations. Even though we are not maintaining the deadline 1 May very strict at TIK, we ask all to register their vacations each year. The general rule is that we are obliged to take as much vacation as we have earned holiday pay the precedent year. E.g. when we have worked a complete calendar year in 100 % we have 25 full days of vacation the following year.
