Eilert Sundts hus offices

The more detailed planning for the move back to Eilert Sundts building has started. After some changes due to an increased number of employees at several departments, TIK was given the main part of the 10th floor. There will be enough room for everybody, but we are in the process of seeing if a small increase in offices will be possible. More information on the office situation will follow.

Two-factor authentication

The IT department has given the following updated information about two-factor authentication when logging into UiO programmes.

Employees:

From Tuesday 8 June at 09:00 there is a new button when logging in to a service with Feide Use work or school account.

Thus, the same two-factor authentication solution as for Microsoft 365, is also used for Feide. This means that employees and students at UiO can largely use the same two-factor solution for all login at UiO. You will be asked to re-authenticate every 30 days. You, as a user at UiO, will in total experience fewer logins and at the same time get both a simpler and more secure IT everyday life!

Affiliated users:

Two-factor authentication with Feide and Word, OneDrive, Teams or other Microsoft 365 products at UiO

As affiliated at UiO you must from 7 June at 09:00 use two-factor authentication to log in to Feide and Microsoft 365.

From then on, you must confirm your login with your mobile phone when you use Microsoft 365 at UiO. This includes all applications and services you have access to at UiO through Microsoft 365: Word, Teams, OneDrive, Powerpoint, Sharepoint, Excel, and more.

From 8 June, the login to Feide will change and you shall use Use work or school account. The new sign-in to Feide uses the same two-factor authentication solution as Microsoft 365.

You can set up two-factor authentication today, but it will not be required at login until June 7 at 09:00. Please see the guide for enabling two-factor authentication in advance at /english/services/it/username-password/2fa/help/pre-enable-2fa.html

We are introducing two-factor authentication because passwords alone are no longer considered sufficiently secure. With this solution, both your own data, and UiO's data and infrastructure become more secure and less vulnerable to attack. The introduction of two-factor authentication also takes place at most other universities and colleges in Norway.

If you have questions or run into problems, please contact the IT helpdesk at https://www.uio.no/english/services/it/contact/helpdesk/
