Six new teams have been admitted to UiO?s innovation programme SPARK Norway. They will develop their ideas within health-related life sciences for the benefit of patients and society.

Thursday January 11th, KURT arranged the bi-annual seminar “REAL Undervisning” which kick-starts the semester with presentations related to current topics in teaching and learning. This semester's "REAL Undervisning" focused on the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in education.

The Growth House at University of Oslo is managing a new collaborative project which will strengthen the student innovation culture in the Oslo region. The project has been granted support from Innovation Norway. The goal is to establish more start-ups and contribute to value creation. OsloMet, BI, Kristiania, the Norwegian University of Life Sciences and Startuplab are collaborators.

Professor Nils Chr. Stenseth has been awarded the prestigious prize: The Prince Albert I Grand Medal Science Section 2023. The prize was awarded by The Oceanographic Institute in Monaco on November 22nd.

Research talents Julien Resseguier and Erna Davydova, from the Department of Biosciences, have received funding for ground-breaking research projects with FRIPRO funds from the Research Council of Norway.

Jonas Paulsen and Cinzia Progida from the Department of Biosciences have received NOK 10,000,000 from the Research Council, to develop nanotechnology and advanced materials for the study of cell response to nuclear deformation.

The emeriti at the Department of Biosciences are a highly valued resource, and they have now got new premises in the Kristine Bonnevies House. The new offices are bright and pleasant, and all of the furniture is recycled.

A model of the value chain for the health industry will help shed light on bottlenecks on the way from research and ideas to pharmaceuticals, medical devices or digital therapies that are exported and sold globally. It will help us prioritise when we are to build a sustainable Norwegian health industry in line with the government's new road map for the health industry. The university is an important contributor in many parts of the value chain.

Five promising researchers at the University of Oslo have been awarded ERC Starting Grants from the European Research Council. The projects showcase the breadth of UiO's disciplines, ranging from sustainability and marginalization to plasma accelerators and sleep.
