Lene Frost AndersenLene Frost Andersen appointed new Head of the National Council for Nutrition

Head of Department and Professor Lene Frost Andersen has accepted the role as Head of the National Council for Nutrition for the 2024-2026 period. PhD candidate Erik Arnesen, Professor Rune Blomhoff and Professor Nanna Lien will also serve on the Council during this period.

T?nnesen awarded Students’ Teaching Award for module 8T?nnesen

Disseminating knowledge has always been a motivating factor for Professor of Anaesthesia, Tor Inge T?nnessen. “Look at teaching as an investment in the future,” is his advice to other educators.

Department of Biosciences: New course BIOS1010 - Introduction to Forensic Medicine

In spring 2024, the Department of Biosciences will offer a new, interdisciplinary bachelor course and admissions are now open. The course provides an introduction to forensic medicine, including forensic genetics, forensic pathology and forensic toxicology. Several lecturers from MED will contribute to the course.

Leadership Forum: Overview of meeting dates. The next meeting is on Tuesday 23 January. Agenda items and documents may be submitted until 12:00 on the last Thursday before the meeting. Minutes of the previous meeting can be found here.

University Board meetings in 2024. The meetings are live-streamed and open to anyone who would like to attend. The next meeting takes place on 6 February.

How do we remember where objects are located?  This has now been discovered in a project led by Koen Vervaeke. This knowledge may prove important to the treatment of diseases that affect memory, such as Alzheimer's disease.

dyreplanktonIMB: The brains of small zooplankton can shed light on neurodegenerative diseases (link in Norwegian). Neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson's disease affect, among other things, the human ability to move. Studying the control system for movement in the brains of small zooplankton can help generate knowledge of how diseases attack.
 

Atlas over rottehjernerIMB: Updated atlas of rat brains marks milestone in brain research (link in Norwegian). A recently updated atlas of rat brains can now help science move forward. The Waxholm Space Rat Brain Atlas is a 3D-atlas that provides a detailed map of the rat brain. Researchers have now further developed the atlas through extensive updates and open access.
