Dear colleagues,
It's time for the rector election at UiO! Voting opens on Monday, 24 March, and you have until 4 April (8:00 AM) to cast your vote.
Get to know the election platforms
Here you can read about the three teams – who they are and what they stand for. You can also watch recordings of one of the election debates. The rectorate is chosen through a preferential voting system, where voters rank the teams. It can be crucial which team you place second.
Who can vote?
At UiO, both employees and students have the right to vote. The main rule is that employees with a permanent position of at least 50% have voting rights, as do Professor IIs. What matters is whether you're employed or a student on the day you cast your vote. Student votes count for 25%, but they can still significantly impact the election outcome. By voting, you support academic freedom
The new rectorate you help elect will make key decisions for the university in the coming years. The University Board believes that a rector chosen by staff and students will best protect research and education. By electing a rector, staff and students gain influence over the leadership and provide it with legitimacy and independence from external pressure. This strengthens the university's autonomy and academic freedom. Use your right to vote!
Happy voting!
Kind regards, Hanna
