Dear all staff,
Since hosting the ?Health for Ukraine? conference in 2023, the faculty has supported research and development projects aimed at education and healthcare services in the country.
We are now progressing and inviting PhD candidates and leaders from Lviv National Medical University to our summer school for young researchers from August 10th-12th: NorDoc PhD Summer School Oslo 2025.
Support for the initiatives taking place in Lviv
Our colleagues in Lviv maintain the education of doctors and researchers despite the many challenges faced in the country, and we look forward to welcoming them to Oslo. The faculty hopes this will mark the beginning of a long-term collaboration.
The need for expertise and assistance among professionals who have endured war for a long time is vast, due to the shortage of professionals as well as the significantly increased need for healthcare in a war-torn population.
NorDoc Summer School in Oslo for the first time
The summer school is being held in Oslo for the first time and is a collaboration among 20 Nordic universities in medicine and health sciences, forming a consortium called NorDoc - Nordic Doctoral Training in Health Sciences.
Over two full days, young researchers will network, showcase their research, listen to lectures and participate in debates.
We will focus on research during health crises and the capacity building of researcher education from a global perspective. The pitfalls and opportunities of using artificial intelligence will also be addressed. Sustainability in research and the development of open research are also on the agenda. Additionally, we will share knowledge on how to maximise a PhD journey through five workshops in smaller groups.
Save the dates of August 10th-12th and join us. Registration will be available on the website. Welcome!
Happy international women's day!
March 8th is no less important this year. We participated, and Hanne had the pleasure of welcoming everyone at the event Global health: Why does the world need women like Fakhra and Elizabeth? (in norwegian). This took place on Wednesday, March 5th, organised by UiO, Norad, and Women in Global Health Norway. This year, as in previous years, we celebrated two extraordinary women in gender equality and global health — in a world marked by war and conflict. See the photos below and happy International Women's Day on Saturday. Get involved and participate in local events on this day.
Best wishes, Hanne and Grete
