The learning environment survey will soon be sent out to our students

Our first Learning environment survey aims to take the pulse of student life at MED. It will inform us about the quality of the learning environment and is an important part of our efforts to improve the daily study experience at MED.

Dear all staff,

The Faculty has developed a learning environment survey that will soon be sent out to students in all our study programmes. The survey opens on 18 November.

We hope for a high response rate from students and ask you to encourage them to participate.

We will be mapping students' experiences of their daily study life

The learning environment survey is a new initiative at the Faculty to collect feedback from students about their daily study life. The survey covers various aspects of the learning environment that affect students' study experiences.

When will the survey take place?

The survey will be open from 18 November to 8 December.

The aim is a report that will justify improvement measures

The survey will provide us with a systematic overview of students' views on study quality and the learning environment and will help in formulating measures to improve daily study life.

A special focus on racism and discrimination

The Faculty has based the survey on the learning environment survey conducted by the Faculty of Law in 2023. That survey was designed by CELL: Centre on Experiential Legal Learning. We are reusing some of the questions from their survey, which gives us a valuable opportunity for comparison.

In addition, we have included questions about racism, discrimination, and exclusion, as requested by the Faculty's Equality, Inclusion and Diversity Committee (LIM) and the Working Group on Racism, Discrimination and Health at Helsam. This is also a topic that concerns the Faculty's management.

The survey is answered anonymously

The survey has been reviewed by the institutes, the LIM Committee, the Medical Student Committee, the Si Fra reception at the Faculty, and the Working Group on Racism, Discrimination and Health at the Institute of Health and Society. We have considered and incorporated many of the suggestions in the final version of the survey.

The survey is available in Bokm?l, Nynorsk, and English, and students respond anonymously. Students can register their interest in a separate online form to participate in the draw for universal gift cards as a thank you for their participation.

How will students be informed?

The survey will be distributed to all active students at the Faculty via email (link in Norwegian). They will also receive information about the survey on My Studies, via posters, information screens, from their study programme, and through their own channels.

Best regards,

Magnus and Eli
