Gain experience as a board member
It can be wise for a young researcher to gain experience in a board position.
"It can provide you with the experience needed to become the best candidate in the pursuit of a permanent research position later", says Dean of Research Grete Dyb.
University democracy is important for employee participation and influence. This autumn, a representative for temporary academic positions will be elected to the Faculty Board.
The members of the Faculty Board discuss and decide on matters that are significant for the faculty’s future and direction. As a member, you gain unique insight into what is happening and valuable experience in governance.
It is a manageable task. During the year candidates are elected for, there are six planned meetings, all scheduled for 4 PM, making it feasible for most to attend.
"I encourage employees with the right to nominate to propose relevant candidates, and eligible candidates to make themselves available for the faculty", says the Dean of Research.
