RITMO research funds

Academic staff  at RITMO have access to funds which are granted in connection with their research.

Annual allocation

The annual allocation is 10 000 NOK per year. The annual allocation covers the costs in connection with staff research, such as:

Research funding

Conferences

RITMO allocates funds for participating at  peer- or committee reviewed conferences at which staff members deliver papers or key note addresses, chairs sessions or participates in panels. RITMO covers up to 30 000 NOK each calendar year for traveling to conferences.
In addition to this amount, you can use your annual allocation of 10 000 NOK on top of that, totalling 40 000 NOK per calendar year. These are travels where the purpose is to present your own research or that of your research group or of RITMO.

Criteria

  • the conference is peer- or committee reviewed
  • the paper/poster is accepted or panel/chair/key note address is agreed
    • PhD students may attend one conference without paper/poster within the first year of their employment.
  • the trip is approved in advance (you ask for approval by submitting the nettskjema)

Allocation

  • given continuously according to attached budget
  • travel, accommodation, compensation supplement, subsistence and conference fees will be covered

If you wish to attend more conferences with paper/poster per year after exceeding the
30 000/40 000 NOK limit, you can apply for additional research funding (see below).

Copy editing

RITMO covers copy editing for

  • all academic articles and book chapters that qualify for credits in CRIStin, the national system for research documentation

RITMO has an annual budget allocation for additional research funds.

What can you apply for?

  • organizing workshops/seminars/conferences (internal, external or partial funding of conferences)
  • participating in workshops/seminars/conferences
  • fieldwork
  • music notation
  • transcription
  • scholarship for Master’s students
  • guest lectures
  • copy editing     
  • developing strategic research areas
  • other relevant research expenses (i.e. license costs, open access publication, specialized equipment etc.)

Note that travels covered or partly covered by this allocation do not automatically trigger subsistence allowance.

Please note that it is no longer possible to apply for funding for research assistance. The research assistance resources are now administered by the clusters. Please contact your cluster leader if you need research assistance.

Applications are prioritized according to

  • relevance for RITMO’s research areas
  • applicants who have available research funds from external projects are not prioritized
  • duration since last allocation of funds

RITMO Overseas Research Grant

You can apply for funding for research stays from one to twelve months.
