A research fellow, as an employee, must adhere to the institute as their workplace and to general regulations governing working life, such as working hours, holidays, leave, and salary. Each department has a personnel officer responsible for following up the employees at the department.
PhD Programme
Doctoral research fellows are enrolled in the faculty’s PhD programme and must adhere to this as PhD candidates. The faculty is responsible for the PhD programme, but the various academic activities are organized by the departments. Each department has a PhD leader who has ongoing responsibility for the academic offerings and for following up candidates and supervisors.
Supervision
PhD candidates have both the right to supervision and the obligation to actively follow up on the supervision. The candidate and the supervisor must have regular contact, and the supervisor is obliged to stay informed about the candidate’s progress. The department appoints the supervisor(s) for the candidates and enters into any co-supervision agreements.
Employee Review
Once a year, research fellows are called in for an employee review with the PhD leader, research leader, or deaptertment leader. An employee review is a systematic review of all aspects of your work situation. It is an opportunity for you to present your thoughts on the work environment, collaboration with colleagues, and your expectations of the institute and yourself.
