See also RCNs website for information.
Information about the project being funded, including the scheme it is funded under, project number and other project identification, is to be entered in the online grant application form under ‘Other relevant programmes/activities/projects’.
The application must substantiate that the international partnership will strengthen the ongoing peer-reviewed project.
Partners and collaborative activities must be aligned with the needs of and possibilities in research and higher education, and applications must refer to how the activities will contribute to achieving the strategic research and quality of education goals specific to the subject and institution.
Is there a limit on how many applications that can be submitted from UiO?
As a large institution with more than 1 500 R&D employees, UiO can submit a maximum total of 20 applications.- UiO must submit a list to the Research Council of not more than 20 approved applications. This means may be a need to prioritise the institution's applications. This will be done according to the process described in the information regarding the process for coordinating UiO's applications, available on the UiO INTPART website.
I have current research funding, as required under INTPART, but the funding is managed in another institution. - Can I still apply for INTPART funding?
When presented with this question the research council answered: "It is not the funding in itself that is the key, but the quality of the researcher/research group as confirmed by the process to receive funding. It does not matter where the funding is managed from."
How much funding can we apply for, and for how long?
You may apply for new projects of up to NOK 10 million over a five-year period. Funding should be distributed as NOK 2 million per year. The institutions are expected to contribute with at least 20% of the total project budget.
What is the coverage of salaries and indirect costs?
Up to 20 per cent of the funding sought may be used to cover payroll and indirect costs for administrative tasks and payroll compensation for personnel for participation in the activities. These costs must be specified in the application and must be proportionate with regard to the institutions own budget contributions and the overall budget for the project.
How do we apply for INTPART?
Applications are submitted through the Norwegian Research Council (RCN) application portal.
UiO may submit up to 20 applications. Information regarding the process for coordinating UIO's applications is available on the UiO INTPART website.
All applicants must be submitted online through the Research Council portal by 16 March 2022 at 13:00 hrs CEST. Applications must be approved beforehand by the relevant Faculty unit and presented to the University leadership by 7 March 2022. Applications may however be perfected online right up until the deadline. The last saved version is the one the research Council will evaluate.
A list of 20 approved University of Oslo applications will be sent to the Research Council by the deadline 16 March 2022 and applications that do not appear on the list will not be considered.
For information about requirements and mandatory attachments to the application, please refer to the programme description.
On which level should the project owner be?
The Project Owner shall be the closest unit responsible for the implementation of the project. We recommend that you search for the unit's name (department or center), then the University of Oslo will show up automatically in the field at the top, and the name of the department will appear in the second field (the enterprise number is not necessary). Click on "Guidelines" to the right for further instructions.
Should the project application include all or several of the target countries - or should it be bilateral?
For the Panorama countries (Brazil, India, China, Russia South Africa, Japan, South Korea, USA, Canada, Germany and France), any combination is acceptable, bilateral, multilateral or network. The relevance of the collaboration must be described, both thematically and in terms of added value for the applying Norwegian research environment. Please make sure you read the 2022 call and programme description closely.
Should the INTPART partnership reflect ongoing cooperation between the partners?
The INTPART-proposal must build on existing collaboration currently being funded by sources specified in the call. The application should also clearly show how the bilateral or network partnership may be sustained after the funding period is over. Applications building on an existing INTPART-project must demonstrate clear plans for new development and expansion, new goals and ambitions, it may not simply constitute an extension of the existing INTPART-project. The existing partnership(s) may continue but be further developed and/or added to. Demonstrating added value is key.
