About the Observatory
The university’s astronomical observatory at Solli plass is among the university’s earliest buildings. It was here that Norway’s geographic position on the globe was established. The Observatory was also involved in the standardization of weights and measures, meteorological observations, geomagnetism and the mapping of the starry sky. The Hansteen professor’s family also hosted salons for the city’s cultural elite. Hear about the research and the people who worked and lived in this beautiful building!
Practical information
