This course is targeted on early career reseachers such as PhD candidates, but postdocs are also welcome to join. It will give you hands-on tools that you can use in your career planning wheter you are aiming for a career within or outside academia.

Introduction 

This course will give you hand-on tools that you can use in your career planning whether you are aiming for a career inside or outside academia. 

 

Target audience 

This course is primarily targeted for early career reseachers, such as PhD candidates. Postdocs might also benefit from the course. 

 

In this course, you will learn

  • how to discover and describe your competence. 
  • about your personal values and what motivates you so you can make good career decisions. 
  • get tools to set your short-term goals and long-term goals so you can kickstart your career planning. 
  • learn how to write your academic and non-academic CV

Prerequisites and practical information

  • The course will be a combination of presentation, individual tasks, experience-sharing, and group discussion. 
  • No course certificate will be provided
  • Coffee and tea will be served

About the instructor

Vivienne Lumayag has 10 years experience as a career counselor, and has in recent years worked with career development for researchers in an early career phase.
