Harassment and systemic cuts in women’s health are interconnected elements of a global and domestic crisis. Systemic violence, political strategies and social inequalities produce measurable harms — from conflict zones to the home.
SUSTAINIT’s Centre for Global Health, University of Oslo, and Women in Global Health Norway invite you to a seminar discussing how this translate into health harms, and identifies research and policy levers for advocacy and reform.
Why now? Rising conflict and displacement, polarizing gender rhetoric online, and persistent underinvestment in women’s health and less access to care escalate risks of gender?based violence, and worsen maternal outcomes. Political shifts interacting with structural discrimination and economic inequality further amplify these harms.
This seminar is honoring Dr. Jeanette H. Magnus, who will be retiring on 1 April, 2026. Everyone is welcome to join us for a reception after the seminar from 16:00-18:00. The reception will also allow for some selected, short speeches. Please contact i.k.haavardsson@medisin.uio.no if you want to be on the speaker list.
