When Oslo Kammerakademi was formed in 2009 by oboist David Friedemann Strunck, the aim was to establish a top-level ensemble that could perform music for the “Harmoniemusik” instrumentation, which was the most popular form of chamber music for winds during the classical and early romantic periods.
The original “Harmoniemusik” ensembles comprised two oboes, two clarinets, two horns, two bassoons and double bass or contrabassoon, a combination that makes for a colourful sound palette that inspired many composers in the late 1700s and early 1800s – among them Mozart and Beethoven. Although this combination of instruments is less common today, composers are still inspired by this sound palette. One of Oslo Kammerakademi’s goals has been to play the “classic” works as well as expanding the repertoire by commissioning new works and new arrangements.
In this concert, Oslo Kammerakademi celebrates its 15th birthday by performing some of its favourites from the repertoire: Beethoven’s Parthia in E flat major (originally composed in 1792), and Gounod’s Petite Symphonie from 1885. The concert starts with an excerpt from a work written for Oslo Kammerakademi in 2012, Magnar ?m’s den f?rste vennleiken (the first beauty). Our guest soloist, the soprano Ann Helen Moen, performs arias by Mozart and songs by Weill, arranged for Oslo Kammerakademi by Trond Olaf Larsen.
With this concert we celebrate 15 years of musicmaking in Norway and the rest of Europe.
Programme:
MAGNAR ?M (*1952): the first beauty
1st movement: which unites my deepest unease
