Together with outstanding musicians in the Ensemble Allegria and conductor Grete Pedersen, the Soloists' Choir performs the magnificent Missa Solemnis - the piece Beethoven himself called his greatest work.
In Missa Solemnis it is Beethoven's fundamental belief of the unifying force of music that shines through. It is not religious humility that is being communicated, but the faith in the human race. The piece is deeply personal, and he writes in the score: "From the heart - had to again - go to the heart".
Missa Solemnis is being performed this night in Joachim Linckelmann's processed chamber version with fewer blowers than in the original score. The piece has such high demands to the musicians that it is being performed undeservingly rare.
