About Young in the Aula
The University of Oslo continues the proud tradition of concerts with young music talents in the University's Aula, our ceremonial hall at Karl Johan. When Waldemar Br?gger opened the room on September 2, 1911, he said that the hall should not only be for the already established, but also prepare the ground for coming generations.
Soprano Kirsten Flagstad debuted there in 1918. Louis Armstrong played there when he first visited Norway in 1933. And when Leif Ove Andsnes made his debut in the Aula as a 17-year-old, he played one of the last of Beethoven's sonatas, opus 110. That young artists get to debute in the Aula is a tradition we should be proud of and which we want to continue.
We do this today through Ung i aulaen, Young in the Aula, UiO's concert series which is now entering its 6th season. This spring, we invite you to concerts in collaboration with the Fagerborg Festival, the Oslo Symphony Orchestra and the Opera College.
