Board election: Who would you like to have on the University Board?

Come to the election meeting and get to know the candidates who wants to be involved in guiding the future development of the University of Oslo. The event will be streamed live.

From 19th to 23rd May, there will be elections for the University Board. Employees at UiO can choose their representative to the university's highest decision-making body.

During the election meeting, you will get to know the candidates better, and hear them introduce themselves. 

About the event

The University Board election meeting is divided into three parts. You may attend a single part or the entire event.

  • 09:00-10:00: Permanent academic staff  
  • 10:00-11:00: Temporary academic staff  
  • 11:00-12:00: Technical and administrative staff

What is the University Board?

The Board is responsible for ensuring that the institution maintains high academic standards and is run efficiently and in accordance with current laws and regulations. All institutional decisions made by parties other than the Board shall be made following delegation from the Board and are the responsibility of the Board.

The University Board has 11 members. Four employee representatives will be elected in 2025. 

  • Two representatives for permanent employees with teaching and research positions  – elected for four years 
  • One representative for fixed-term employees with teaching and research positions  – elected for one year 
  • One representative for technical and administrative staff – elected for four years 

Students elect their own representatives. In addition, four external representatives are appointed by the Ministry of Education and Research.
