SPARK Social innovation is a two-year innovation programme developed at the University of Oslo (UiO). There are several versions of the SPARK programme around the world, but UiO is the first university to develop a SPARK programme solely for social innovation.
Our goal is to strengthen innovation activities, especially in the social sciences and humanities, but the programme is open to all academic fields at the university.
At the core of SPARK Social Innovation is a two-year innovation programme for researchers. We are also building an innovation network, and organise open events that focus on innovation.
SPARK Social Innovation is hosted by UiO: Energy and Environment.

Why social innovation?
While commercial enterprises apply for patents to keep their ideas for themselves, social innovation is about sharing and evolving ideas together – and about adding value to society.
Through social innovation, products and initiatives are developed that can enhance services or address unmet needs in the community.
