Local senior safety representative, leading safety representative and their deputies election procedure

Purpose

This procedure will ensure that:

Range of application

This procedure applies to all units at the University where there are two or more safety representatives.

Responsibility

  • The election committee for a department, museum, administrative department and other units that have chosen two or more safety representatives will be responsible for calling a meeting to elect a leading safety representative for a given safety zone, and to chair the meeting. A deputy to the leading safety representative will also be elected.
  • At faculties where an election committee has completed the election of safety representatives for the entire faculty, the election committee is responsible to convene a meeting for the election of local senior safety representative and to chair the meeting. It shall also be elected deputy for local senior safety representative.
  • Faculties with no election committee are responsible for inviting relevant leading safety representatives and/or safety representatives to elect a local senior safety representative and a deputy for that faculty.
  • The election committee at the museums, the university library has the responsibility to convene a meeting for the election of local senior saftey representative and to chair the meeting. It shall also be elected deputy for local senior safety representative.
  • If no safety representatives are willing to stand for election as a local senior safety representative, leading safety representative and deputies for those, the trade unions shall appoint them.
  • The management shall announce who has been elected or appointed for the various safety zones and when the appointment begins.
