Martine Jahre

Martine Jahre is the Vice- President of the Norwegian Students' and Academics' International Assistance Fund (SAIH). She has a Bachelor Degree in Political Science from Oslo University. She is also a member of the University of Oslo Scholars at Risk committee.

Ole Petter Ottersen

Professor Ole Petter Ottersen is the University of Oslo's elected Rector for the period 2013-2017 and was also Rector 2009-2013. He became professor of the Department of Anatomy in 1992.From 1997 to 1999, Professor Ottersen was Academic Head of the Department of Anatomy; from 2000 to 2002 he was Vice-Dean of Research at the Medical Faculty, and from 2002 to 2009 he headed the Centre for Molecular Biology and Neuroscience ¨C one of Norway¡¯s Centres of Excellence. Ole Petter Ottersen is elected Chair of the Board of the Norwegian Association of Higher Education Institutions 2013-2017.

Bj?rn Haugstad

Bj?rn Haugstad is currently the State Secretary for higher education and research at the Ministry of Education. He has a PhD from the University of Oxford and is an engineer in industrial economy from NTNU. Previously, Haugstad has been the research director at the University of Oslo. Haugstad served as State Secretary for the Ministry for Education and Research from 2001-2005.

Khaled Harara

Khaled Harara is a renowned Palestinian hip-hop artist who has lived as a refugee in Gaza. His texts discuss the political situation in Palestine from a humanitarian and social perspective and criticise the lack of freedom of expression and the suffering in Palestine under the Hamas rule. Khaled Harara was Gothenburg City of Refuge's guest writer  - and the first musician that ICORN accepted - from 2013 to 2015.

SAR Scholars hosted at Norwegian institutions

Up to now ten scholars have been hosted at seven Norwegian higher education institution for a total of 17 one year guest researcher visits. Two of the scholars will give introductions to their stories, and four others will be present at the reception.

Four acting students from Westerdals Oslo Act will perform a dramatic reading from the collection "courage to think" called "Diana".

"Diana is a young, Colombian women who was forced to leave her country because of her political voice, and for being her fathers daughter. She was helped by Scholars at risk to settle down and studying in America, but her strongest wish is to move back to her family in Colombia."

Ragnhild ?ien Guldvog

Ragnhild ?ien Guldvog is the present Chair of the Norwegian Section of the global network Scholars at Risk (SAR). 19 universities and university colleges are members, as well as The Norwegian Association of Higher Education Institutions (UHR) and Norwegian Students' and Academics' International Assistance Fund (SAIH). She is Senior Adviser for internationalization of R&D at the Section for Research and Development, Oslo and Akershus University College of Applied Sciences.

Kristian Harpviken

Kristian Harpviken is the Director of The Peace Research Institute Oslo (PRIO). He has a PhD in Sociology, University of Oslo and has done extensive research for PRIO on civil war, war-related migration and social networks, regional (in-)security, peacebuilding and peacemaking, and Afghanistan and its neighbouring countries.

Robert Quinn

Robert Quinn is the founding Executive Director of Scholars at Risk. Mr. Quinn also serves on the  Council of the Magna Charta Observatory, based in Bologna, Italy;  Quinn previously served as Executive Director of the Institute of International Education¡¯s Scholar Rescue Fund; on the Steering Committee of the Network for Education and Academic Rights (NEAR), based in London, UK;   Mr. Quinn and Scholars at Risk have received a number of honors including the University of Oslo's Human Rights Award, the Lisl and Leo Eitinger Prize, for "relentless work to protect the human rights of academics and for having inspired and engaged others to stress the importance of academic freedom". 
 

Terence Karran

Dr Terence Karran is Professor of Higher Education Policy in the School of Education at the University of Lincoln in the UK and a Docent Professor in the Faculty of Education at Oulu University in Finland. He has undertaken published research into the legal protection for academic freedom in the EU and at present, ably assisted by Dr Klaus Beiter and Dr Kwadwo Appiagyei-Atua at Lincoln, is undertaking a large scale survey of the de facto experiences of academic freedom within the EU states and the nations of Africa.

Sijbolt Noorda

Dr Sijbolt Noorda is Former president emeritus of the University of Amsterdam, past president f the Association of Dutch Research Universities and a former board member of the European University Association. At present he chairs the Academic Cooperation Association (Brussels), is an expert in the IEP (Institutional Evaluation Program) of EUA and is an advisor to various Austrian, Dutch, German, Rumenian and Turkish universities.

Tora Aasland

Tora Aasland is the President of the Norwegian UNESCO Commission. She was a member of the Norwegian Parliament form 1985-1993 and member of Presidency in the Norwegian Parliament 1989-1993. She was the County Governor in Rogaland from 1993- 2013. She was also a Member of Government and Minister for Research and Higher education 2007-2012.

Stina Torjesen

Stina Torjesen holds a PhD in International Relations from the University of Oxford and is a former senior research fellow at NUPI. She worked previously with the United Nations in Kazakhstan and, in her current role as Associate Professor at the University of Agder has also managed a three year University of Agder cooperation project with a Kazakhstani partner, KIMEP.

Kwadwo Appiagyei-Atua

Dr Kwadwo is a senior lecturer from University of Ghana in the LL.M Programme in Human Rights and Democratisation course. Appiagyei-Atua obtained his LL.B (Hons) from the University of Ghana and his Doctor of Civil Law from McGill University. He is a member of the Ghana Bar and Senior Lecturer at the University of Ghana School of Law. For the period 2013-2015 he served as a Marie Curie International Incoming Fellow at Lincon University developing a survey on Academic Freedom.

Torunn Lauvdal

Torunn is the Rector at University of Agder. She is a  Professor with a Ph.D in Education from the University of Trondheim. She is a former Research Director at Agder Research, Kristiansand, Research Director SINTEF, Trondheim, Research fellow Work Research Institute and Assistant professor, Oppland College, Lillehammer.

Pam Fredman

Pam Fredman is the  Vice-Chancellor of the University of Gothenburg since September 2006. She is a Professor of Neurochemistry and  a member of the Swedish government¡¯s National Innovation Council. She is also the First Vice President for the International Association of Universities, IAU. She is also a member of the Nordic University Association Former Chair of the European Society of Neurochemistry and member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences, IVA.

Mahmood Amiry-Moghaddam

Amiry-Moghaddam is a Professor in Medicine and head of the Laboratory of Molecular Neuroscience at the University of Oslo. He is also co-founder and spokesperson for the NGO Iran Human Rights which monitors the violations of human rights in Iran. 
Amiry-Moghaddam is well known as a defender of human rights. He received the Norwegian Amnesty International's human rights prize in 2007 for his work against the human rights violations in Iran.
He is a member of the Scholars at Risk committee of the University of Oslo.

Nicklas Poulsen Viki

Nicklas Pouslen Viki is the President of the Norwegian Students' and Academics' International Assistance Fund (SAIH). Nicklas Viki has a master in community psychology from Oslo University. He has been an active supporter of the Norwegian Scholar At Risk Network since 2008.

Ragnhild Tungesvik

Ragnhild is the Head of Department of Development and Analysis in the Norwegian Centre for International Cooperation in Education (SIU). She holds a Master¡¯s degree in Educational Science from the University of Oslo, with specialization in education in Africa. Before joining SIU she worked as an adviser in Save the Children Norway, and she has held teaching positions at Oslo University College and Bergen University College.

G?ril Mellem

G?ril Mellem is an Adviser at the Office for Internationalisation and Research Support at the University of Oslo, responsible for management of UiO's portfolio of MoUs with partner universities across the world. She is SAR Norway's representative to the SAR working group on a model MoU on Values.

Morten Irgens

Morten Irgens is the Pro-Rector for Research and Development at the Oslo and Akershus University College of Applied Sciences. Dr. Irgens' is driven by the academic mission and the role of academia in addressing the grand societal challenges of our time. He finds particular interest in the areas of computer science, environmental sustainability and cyber security. The secretariat of the Scholars at Risk Norway Section is located at Oslo and Akershus University College of Applied Sciences.
