University Aula and Domus Bibliotheca

The University Aula and Domus Bibliotheca, both located in the city centre, are among UiO's best-known buildings. They are important arenas for different kinds of public events. It is important to connect these activities to the University of Oslo through branding and design.

A special tag has been developed for use in all marketing of events that are held in the University Aula and Domus Bibliotheca. This includes posters, flyers, website images, social media posts and so forth. The tag is created specifically for the University Aula and Domus Bibliotheca, and may not be used for other kinds of events at UiO.

How the marketing materials should be designed otherwise, depends on who is organising the event. There are separate graphic guidelines for events where UiO is the only organiser, for events where UiO is a co-organiser, and for events where external organisers rent the Aula or Domus Bibliotheca.

Tag for all events in the University Aula and Domus Bibliotheca

The tag consists of text ("Universitetets aula"/"Domus Bibliotheca") and UiO's seal. The size and placement of these elements should not be altered.

The tag's background colour must be set to:

  • blue for events in Domus Bibliotheca. 
  • yellow, black or white for events in the University Aula.

The colour of the text and seal must be set to:

  • black on yellow and white background.
  • white on black and blue background.

Design guidelines for marketing material

All marketing of events in the University Aula and Domus Bibliotheca must include the tag as specified above. How the marketing material should be designed otherwise, depends on who's the organiser.

Different guidelines have been developed for cases where:

  • UiO organises the event.
  • UiO organises the event in collaboration with others.
  • external organisers hold events in The Aulaen or Domus Bibliotheca.

UiO's own events

In the marketing of UiO's own events, UiO's general visual profile should be used. The tag is created to fit into all of UiO's general templates and grids.

On posters, flyers and screens, the University's name should be used as specified in the design manual. For posts in UiO's social media channels and images at uio.no, where the name is already salient, only the tag should be used.

Collaborative events

Some events are organised by UiO in collaboration with others. The tag should be used in the same way as when the university is the sole organiser, while the reminder of the design should adhere to the following guidelines:

  • If UiO is the main organiser, UiO's visual profile and templates should be used. 
  • If UiO is an equal partner in a group of organisers, the material should have a neutral design with all organisers' logos juxtaposed at the bottom.
  • If an external partner is the main organiser and UiO is a contributor, the main organiser's logo and profile should be used.

Events with external organisers

Marketing materials for events in the Aula and Domus Bibliotheca should include the tag even if UiO is not among the organisers. The tag can be used in any of UiO's profile colours. It should always be placed to the right and spanning the whole height, as shown in the examples on this page.

As for the reminder of the surface, the organisers are completely free to fill it with their own content and design it in any way they like.
